Madhushri Mudke is a conservationist and a researcher with a focus on frogs. She decided to share her knowledge and expertise through this book. She came to me with a simple brief. Make this science book interesting to look at, she said. Since the book has content that is very fact-oriented she wanted it to be engaging for the reader as well as fascinating to the normal crowd. She wants to raise awareness among people about how important these tiny organisms are to our ecosystem. She blogs about it at girlgonebirdzz.
For the cover, she wanted Monochrome Madhubani and for the inside frogs illustrated background for real frogs. It was quite challenging to create a background for every frog depending on what their position is. I really enjoyed doing this project and the best part is now I know what frog is it when I spot one! ;)
Hand-drawn Madhubani on paper. Left is the final outlined drawing (Yes there were rough sketches before :P) and on right is the monochrome Madhubani which was then digitalized.
Photo Grid of few frogs from inside of the book.
